Day 1
Arrival in Yerevan, transfer from airport to the hotel and accommodation. Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning City tour of Yerevan: Republic Square, Mashdots Avenue, Bagramian Avenue, the Palace of the President, the Parliament, the University, Monuments to Vardan Mamigonian, David of Sassoun, Mother Armenia, the Cascade, St. Gregory the Illuminator Mother Temple. Lunch. In the afternoon visit to the Museum of History. Welcome dinner in a restaurant.
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning: Visit to Echmiadzin, the most important holy church of the Supreme Orthodox Authority of Armenia. Inside the main church you can see a piece of Noah’s Ark. Visit of the 7th century churches of St. Hripsime and St. Gayane. Lunch in a typical restaurant. Visit of Zvartnotz (7th century) to see the ruins of the ancient circular church. Free time for shopping. Dinner.
Day 3
Breakfast. Departure for Tsaghkadzor. City tour with visit of the Kecharis monastery (16th century), to discover the Armenian medieval architecture. Departure to Sevan. Excursion of Lake Sevan, called “the pearl of Armenia”. A lake of great beauty that lies 2000m above sea level, one of the largest mountain lakes in the world. Visit to the Arakelots Monastery (874 A.D.) and Astvatsatsin Church on the Sevan Peninsula.
Day 4
Breakfast in Dilijan. Visit of Haghartsin located not far from Dilijan. Visit of Haghpat Monastery. Lunch. Visit of Sanahin Monastery (10th-13th centuries)
located in the North-Eastern part of Armenia. These monasteries are included in the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. Return to Yerevan.
Day 5
Breakfast. Departure for Oshakan and visit of the Church of St. Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet. Visit of the mountainside of Mount Aragats. Lunch. The tour continues around Ashtarak with the visit of the churches of Karmravor and Saghmosavank and of the gorgeous Amberd Fortress, reached by crossing a stunning canyon. Return to Yerevan. Dinner in a restaurant.
Day 6
Breakfast. In the morning: Visit to Tsitsernakaberd: 1915 Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and Museum. Visit to Matenadaran – a archive of ancient books
and rare manuscripts. Lunch in a restaurant. Shopping at the fruit and vegetable market. In the afternoon visit to the Garni Pagan Temple (1st c. B.C.) and Geghard Monastery (10th-13th) situated on a solid rock. Dinner in a local restaurant. Return to Yerevan.
Day 7
Breakfast. Visit to Khor Virap Monastery, situated in the Ararat Valley under Mount Ararat, considered holy by the Armenian people. It is the site of Armenia’s adoption of Christianity in 301 A.D. and the place where St. Gregory the Illuminator, was kept prisoner for 13 years in a deep hole in the ground (at Khor Virap) by the pagan king Trdat III. Lunch. The tour continues with the visit of Noravank Monastery and Areni where you can taste wine in the local vineyard. Return to Yerevan. Dinner in a restaurant.
Day 8
Transfer to airport and departure home
