Chimbulak hotel is located next to the ski lifts in the Chimbulak Ski Resort. It only takes 40 minutes to drive to Almaty city center. The comfortably furnished rooms at Chimbulak Hotel feature scenic views of the town or the Medeu Valley and have a private bathroom with toiletries. Most rooms offer a balcony. Please be informed that the hotel Chimbulakdoes not usually accept credit cards, so do not rely on it! Do have sufficient cash to pay for services! There is no lift which is a bit hassle for the elder guests staying on top floors. So, ask to have a room on lower floors.

The Chimbulak hotel in the Ile-Alatau National park offers a large cafe, a sauna, Banya (Russian bath house) and classical-style rooms with flat-screen TVs. The hotel also offers ski storage and ski hire is available nearby. The ski pistes are great, the ski lifts are new. Free parking is provided, but a bit way from the Hotel (around 150 meters). Free Wi-Fi is provided.

The Hotel lets to rent its Bar for private night parties and also there is the Assorti restaurant near the hotel which spends open-air discotheque twice in a week. Be ready to hear noisy music at nights. At the breakfast territory they let to smoke cigarettes and kalians which are not comfortable for another people with children who try to enjoy fresh air.

The roomsare small and un-renovated. The carpetsare filthy, the beds are hard and the sheets are stained. The towel rails are literally falling off the bathroom walls. Heating is not working very well in the winter and it can be cold.

Breakfast is included in the room price but is poor and quality of the food is low: a plate with two fried eggs, processed meat, processed cheese and white bread. No drinks are included, they charge extra to have a coffee.Kazahk cuisine and light snacks are available at the cafe. Drinks can be enjoyed at the bar or in the billiards room.

Chimbulak has so much potential should it manages to invest into refurbishment and proper staff training. The ski pistes are great, the ski lifts are new and the ski rental is good. But with incompetent staff and poor management one is rather to avoid this place so far. Stay lower down the mountain and take the bubble-lift up to the pistes or stay in Almaty and drive up as it is only takes 40 minutes.
