Kokshetau National Nature Park
Straddling two regions, Akmola and North Kazakhstan, the Kokshetau National Nature Park was designated in 1996 and occupies a large area to the south and west of Kokshetau. While both scenically and touristically rather lower key than the better-known resort area of Borovoye, the park offers some attractive landscapes: undulating hills, punctuated by many lakes, and covered with a mix of steppe and of pine and birch forests. Woodland inhabitants include elk, deer and bears.
