Day 1

Arrival to Almaty. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation, short rest. Breakfast. Almaty (i.e. "father of apples" or "father of apple trees") is the former capital of Kazakhstan and the nation's largest city, with a population of 1,5 mln.  Despite losing its status as the capital to Astana in 1997, Almaty remains the major commercial and cultural centre of Kazakhstan. The city is located in the mountainous area of southern Kazakhstan, near the border with Kyrgyzstan.

City sightseeing: visit Panfilov park, the remarkable Cathedral of the Holy Ascension (built in 1907 by architect Andrei Zenkov during a period in which the main building material of the earthquake-wary city was wood. The cathedral reaches a height of more than 53m, making it one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world), Museum of national musical instruments, National museum, Medeo gorge, Republic square (4 hrs). Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 

Breakfast. Flight to Ust-kamenogorsk (2 hours). Arrival to Ust-Kamenogorsk. Transfer Ust-Kamenogorsk - Ridder - Gemma guest house (170 km). Accommodation at the guest house. In the evening Russian sauna, tea with fresh Altay honey. Overnight.

Day 3

Breakfast. Start of trekking in Altay mountains. Hiking: Gemma guest house - Kedrovoye lake (8 km). The way runs along Palevaya Razlivanka river among Altay taiga with high-altitude. Flora changes. We can see alpine tundra. Further track runs on a mountain range among the Alpine flowered lowlands. The Panorama of Belaya and Chernaya Uba. In a good weather it is possible to see Insky Belok glacier. The camping in tents on Kedrovoye lake (H-2200). Overnight at the tents.

Kedrovoye Lake, East Kazakhstan

Day 4

Breakfast. Radial walking to "Stone town" area - high granite rocks with bizarre form. There are sources of Belaya and Chernaya rivers of East Kazakhstan. These rivers form Uba river upon confluence. Overnight at the tents.

Day 5 

Black knot, East KazakhstanBreakfast. Hiking: Kedrovoye lake - the place called "Black knot" (8 km). Ascent to range, to source of Turgusun river. On the full way we can see panorama of Turgusun river and Visheivanovsky glacier (H- 2778 m). Hiking to Mezhozerny pass. Track lies along cascades of lakes. Accommodation in tents at the place "Black node". Overnight at the tents.

Day 6

Breakfast. Hiking: "Black knot" - Ozerny pass (9 km). The way lies along beautiful Palevoye lake and then along gorge of Pravaya Gromotuha river. Further the way lies along cascade of lakes, forest. Near pass Ozerny is mountain lake. Camping tents at the lake. Fishing (grayling). Overnight at the tents.

Day 7

Podbelkovoye Lake, East KazakhstanBreakfast. Hiking: Ozerny pass - Podbelkovoye lake (6 km). Descent and in 1 hour we can see beautiful waterfall. Then descent via Ust-Kamenogortsev pass to Podbelkovoye lake. Accommodation in tents on lake. Rest. Overnight at the tents.

Day 8

Breakfast. Hiking and descent to valley of Palevaya Pazlivanka. Transfer by autotransport to guest house. Transfer to Ust-Kamenogorsk. Accommodation at the hotel "Irtysh". Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9

Flight to Almaty. Arrival to Almaty. Accommodation in the hotel. Free time. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10  Transfer to airport. Departure from Almaty
