Special visa regime for visitors of European Olympic Games

The president of Azerbaijan has signed a document with regards to simplifying the visa procedure for the visitors of First European Olympic Games that are due to be held in June 2015 in Baku city. According the document the Cabinet has to implement within two months period the measures to establish accreditation regime for visitors and participants of European Olympic Games.

We are honored to host the 1st European Games 2015. Azerbaijan hosted a number of international competitions, but this will be the first-ever multi-sport event. We have the ability to create the conditions for training sportsmen in different climatic conditions. We bid to host the Olympic Games of 2016 and 2020 but failed to win.

The most popular Azerbaijan summer tourist destinations named

The regions of Azerbaijan that are most popular among tourists in summer time have been announced by Azerbaijan Tourism Association. Advisor to the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AzTA) Muzaffer Agakerimov said that 'Despite the fact that Azerbaijan has six or seven tourist attractive regions, travellers prefer only three of them'.

Only 10% of hotels operating in Azerbaijan are having stars

Only 10.1% of hotels operating in Azerbaijan are classified into star categories. According to the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism there are altogether 520 hotels and hotel-type facilities operating in the country. Currently only 53 are star category hotels. “Among them 36 hotels are in Baku and 17 hotels are in different regions of the country.

Baku will host the fifth International "Maiden Tower" Arts Festival

It was reported by Icherisheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve under Azerbaijan Cabinet that the fifth annual festival will be held the in the historical centre of Baku on May 7. The event initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and co-organized by Icherisheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve, IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action), Museum of Modern Art and Maiden Tower Arts Gallery and will be held in Icheri Sheher (Old town).
