Каmila hotel is located close to historical centre of Samarkand making it easy to go around its historical part. All major historical landmarks including stunning Registan are within walking distance. Owners are friendly, know the city well and can provide helpful advice on eateries and find you cheaper taxis.

The location may not be as central as other hotels, but entrance off a small side street gives you feeling of staying as a guest in a family home. The owner can't speak English, but one of his young employees can. This young man works most with the foreign visitors, speak a range of languages and could teach customer service lessons. Kamila is the name of the owner's young granddaughter. Family who run this hotel is very helpful and they show such great pleasure at helping you.

When getting there for the first time be ready that the hotel is not easy to find, the taxi drivers will unlikely know the exact location and would need to ask around. So do have hotel's contact details should the driver need to get instructions. However, once you get it, you will find its location to be quite well located. Local bazaar is nearby, worth visiting.

The whole place leaves an odd feeling - it is like the owners had taken over some expensive villa and started to convert into a hotel but it is not quite ready for use by guests. The beautiful courtyard with ornate wooden pillars held in a quiet atmosphere

There are 31 cosy rooms at the hotel including 16 double, 11 single and 4 lux rooms. The rooms are arranged around two courtyards. Triple rooms are also available, they are spacious with the toilet separated from bathroom. One is advisable to take twin rooms as they are larger in size. Single rooms are very small. It is possible to book non-smoking room. Rooms feature: bathroom, hair dryer, satellite TV, opening windows, desk, and conditioner. Rooms are comfortable and immaculate and there is wood carving at the windows. Wooden beds, wool blankets. Hotel is quite pleasant with rooms arranged around two courtyards. Bathroom is basic, but sufficient. Room are very clean but also basic. There is no reliable Wi-Fi internet access (problems most of the time), should you need to go online you would be offered to use USB-flash modem for a short time.

There is a bar and restaurant, also possibility to eat in the open air. The breakfast area is a large dining room very well furnished. You can have breakfast served on an "ayvan" (reminds the big podium beds in China where you sit cross-legged or with your legs curled up underneath you) just outside of some rooms. Breakfast is nothing great about, same every day, but refilling and tasty.

Staff is very friendly and helpful, with their good advices for lonely traveller. The young staff are available to give guided tours and speak a number of languages including English, French, German and Russian. Excellent hospitality and helpfulness of staff will definitely impress you. At the end of your stay they usually present a box of tea to its guests as a farewell gift, very touchy.

Authentic place, very Uzbek in style and atmosphere. There are clearly better value and quality accommodation available in Samarkand, but this place is somehow unique.
