Grand Orzu Hotel is located a little bit away from the central area of Tashkent on a quiet street. Location is generally OK, given most people don't linger in Tashkent for too long. A 5-minute walk to the main street for buses and taxis, and a couple of acceptable restaurants nearby. Tashkent's Old Town with the Kukeldash Madrasah are 10 minutes' drive away. The nearest metro station is 30minuteswalk but for this should be a real pleasure to explore the spirit of Tashkent, its people, buildings and witness they daily life.

The hotel would benefit from a face-lift although the interior design style is quite common in this region. There dirty worn-out rugs in the corridors and stairs, cleaning in the rooms is not the best, but bed sheets and towels are fresh. No lift to take up luggage but the stairs are wide and quite shallow.

Grand Orzu features 50 guestrooms, including 21 single rooms with king size beds, 10 luxe rooms (2 rooms) and 19 twin rooms. The rooms in the hotel are basic, rather small and slightly rundown. Each room is decorated in a simple style with neutral tones. All rooms include a fridge, and bathrooms have bathrobes. The beds are quite good, though look unsophisticated. Air conditioning is noisy but keep the room cool. Try to avoid a room near the pool as this where people hang out in the evenings and it can become quite noisy. Ask for suites that look onto the inner patio, they are good.

The garden turned into the imitation of local style tea-house (chaihana) is nice, and the pool is small but refreshing. One would certainly enjoy spending the evening in the patio centered around small swimming pool, sipping the beer in the evening breeze. The tables in the courtyard are a mixture of regular furniture and Uzbek daybeds covered in carpets and cushions. There is a free Wi-Fi but the signal is strong only in lobby area.

The breakfast is basic. The bar and restaurant serve nice food and cold drinks.

Staff is undertrained, not customer friendly and asks for serious management attention.

The Grand Orzu is generally decent and affordable hotel. It is basic, but you get what you pay for.
