Uzbek National House of Murod Mirzo is located in the oldest part of Tashkent city in Chorsu area. The Uzbek National House is a nice B&B type hotel based in a traditional Uzbek house. This is a family house for several generations of famous Uzbek merchant Mirzaboy. Nowadays the family of his grandson lives in this house and host guests. The building has recently been renovated, apparent by the old items sitting in the courtyard.
The Uzbek national house is not far from Hazrat Imam Complex in an ancient residential area of Tashkent city - Sagban. Chorsu Metro station is close to the hotel, it takes 5-7 minutes' walk to get to the station. The National House is a perfect place to stay if you are interested to see how modern day Uzbeks live in a traditional setting. There is no signboard of the Guesthouse and that makes it a little difficult to locate the place.
Nearby are famous Tashkent sights such as the Chorsu Bazaar (good eating options), the National Theater, the National Park, the Uzbek Clothing Gallery, traditional communities, the Tomb of Kaffor Shoshiy, Barakxon and Ko'kaldosh Madrasa and other historical places. Also, nearby is the Museum where you can have a look at the Koran of Osman - famous Arab Caliph. According to the legend, some of the pages still contain blood of the Caliph who was slain while working on the book...The Manager of the hotel is a historian who can tell you many interesting stories from Uzbek history, architecture, about Tamerlane and glorious days in the past of this country.
Surrounding the inner courtyard there are 12 large and small rooms including 3 twin rooms, 1 triple room, 2 single rooms and 2 dormitory rooms with 4 beds (share bath room and toilet). The rooms have been decorated in traditional style with lot of wood carving work done. The rooms are good, the shared bathroom / toilet are very clean. Beds are new and comfortable. The house is in traditional style with wooden carvings on the ceilings and with century old furniture.
In the summer time they organise a place in the inner yard where up to 10-15 people can lie down and relax in the evening breeze. There is free Wi-Fi.
Hotel provides basic breakfast (1 boiled egg, tea, bread, cheese). At a small fee it is also possible to eat good local style dinner. If you stay here there is a place you are recommended to visit: walk out from the GH, go to opposite road, turn right and walk towards Chorsu Bazaar direction, after 200-300m you will spot a small/tiny local restaurant with pink color painting on your left, it is a must try place, they serve the best Lagman!
They can organize tours through Tashkent city, show how to play traditional instruments and sing Uzbek songs, and arrange discussions about Uzbek traditions and other activities to make you more familiar with the Uzbek culture. It is nice sitting in the garden and listening to the owner's rock style solo with Dutar. The owner is a history professor at the university and is an Uzbek tourism/history expert. If you choose to stay, get him talking about Uzbek history. It will be interesting.
The owner and his son, Oybek, offer invaluable advice regarding Tashkent and Uzbek culture in general. The accommodation and the service is super friendly, if you need anything just ask.
Decent place to stay for couple of nights if you seek home-stay feeling rather than hotel experience. Accommodation is very basic by any standards but if you want a good personal interaction, this is a good place. One thing of caution though, the owner is a man of mood, and if he is out of spirits your experience won't be the best.
