My child saw a video by some blogger about a cave in Armenia where you can see bats.
Now he wants to go there too. Please advise, which suitable one is closer from Yerevan? Are there cave options with equipped routes and no extreme conditions?
Equipped and without extreme elements would be Areni Cave and Magellan Cave. All the others require going with speleologists and proper equipment. Just this Sunday we went exploring the nearest caves with speleologists — it was very interesting.
We did see bats, but you absolutely must not wake them — they’re hibernating, and generally in tourist caves they won’t show them to visitors so as not to disturb their sleep.
Thank you. Of course, we are not planning to wake insectivores during a time when food is scarce for them. I’m just gathering information for later, when they come out of hibernation.
Well, closer to your trip just write again — maybe they’ll open something else for mass visits, or we’ll arrange something with speleologists 😉
