Hi everyone! Tomorrow is my last day in Armenia. I’m in Tsaghkadzor right now, the weather hasn’t really cooperated, the upper cable cars are turned off. Please advise where I could go to see some beautiful mountains.

Azat Reservoir is beautiful. Have you been to Garni?

Yes, Garni — yes. I’m actually thinking about Azat Reservoir, thanks!

You could go to Dilijan, there are mountains all around there.

Beautiful mountains are best seen from above, then you’ll definitely see them. There are flights over Azat Reservoir. I flew there in summer.
That’s when you really see all the beauty. By paraglider. But it’s not for everyone ))) only for people who love flying.

The area around Saghmosavank and the Alphabet Monument. There’s a canyon there, a view of a big hill (well, kind of a mountain, but it looks more like a big hill) on one side and Aragats (though not close) on the other. In Armenia it’s hard to find mountains that are really mountains, I think. The country itself basically lies on a plateau averaging about 2,500 meters with gorges, so mountains of 3,000–4,000 meters seem rather gentle…

Saghmosavank is more of a gorge than mountains) but it’s great there, yes. But when visibility is bad it’s not very impressive. Same issue with mountains in general.

Well, it’s located above the gorge, not inside it, and around it are typical Armenian mountains… there are probably steeper mountains somewhere, but in my opinion they’re mostly along the border with Azerbaijan on both sides… well, there’s also Mount Dimats among the easily accessible ones, with off-road vehicle access… but the view from it isn’t exactly very mountainous either… well, compared to the North Caucasus, of course…
