If you’re looking to join others, I highly recommend heading to Duet Hostel’s cafe in Karakol. They have a whiteboard specifically for hikers looking to connect with others. Alakul Lake is one of the most popular treks in the region, especially in July, so you’re likely to find fellow hikers quickly.

Another option is to reach out to the staff at the hostel. They’re usually well-connected with the hiking community and might be able to provide you with updated information closer to your trip. Sometimes, they even know of organized groups or individuals planning to hike on specific dates. If you plan ahead, you might even be able to fix a departure date before you arrive in Karakol.

Good luck! Alakul Lake is stunning and worth every step!

The problem is, I’m not an experienced hiker, and the idea of tackling the trek alone feels daunting—especially since I’m worried about getting lost. Does anyone have advice or tips for joining a group or making the trek more manageable?
