I just spoke with them — it’s better to book a couple of days in advance, but if there are only a few of you, you can also come on the same day. The cost is 3,000 drams per person (≈ $7.5) for just a tour, and with a tasting it’s from $40 to $100 per person, depending on the number of wines and the category. Better to call — they’ll explain everything in detail.

We first took a taxi to some industrial area and were shocked that a winery could be somewhere there, but actually inside the building it’s very nice — a cool cellar, an interesting tour, and tasty wines. Visiting wineries with vineyards is especially great in spring, when there’s not yet unbearable heat.

We’ve been to almost all of them — I would recommend Van Ardi Winery (it’s probably the most presentable one and the wines are good). You can also go to Alluria Winery (these are natural wines, but they’re more for enthusiasts), though the food there is delicious. Voskeni Winery is nice and cozy, but better in spring. Gevorkian Winery is located in Yerevan in a rather unattractive surrounding area — there’s only a tasting hall there, but the wines are interesting and the atmosphere is warm. All of these are within an hour from the city.

Also Tushpa Wine Cellar — good wines and tasty food, though it feels like they’re already a bit tired of visitors.

Ah, and also Voskevaz Winery — they built it like a castle. There’s no vineyard there, but in this kind of weather it’s just perfect. And the wines are good too.
