Day 1   Sadakhlo - Tbilis

Meeting at Sadahlo at the Georgian-Armenianborder, transfer to Tbilisi Vere Palace hotel (or 4* alternative). On the way visit Lower Kartli region: Bolnisi Sioni Cathedral built in 478-493 where you will see the inscriptions - the oldest historical documents of the Georgian alphabet; visit archaeological site in Dmanisi proclaimed as the birthplace of the first Europeans after 1.8 million years old early human fossils was found at Dmanisi. Tour continues to Tbilisi - capital of Georgia since 5th century. Free afternoon at the famous Sulfur Bathes and enjoy spring baths - where "water is hot without the aid of fire" - as Ibn Haukal wrote in the X c. Night in Tbilisi.

Day 2    Tbilisi

Start Tbilisi city tour with Abanotubani - the one of the ancient districts in Tbilisi famous for its sulfur springs, visit Narikala fortress of 4th century overlooking the city and the Kura River, Metekhi church dated 13th century and the bridge of beauty, walk to Shardeni street and visit Sioni cathedral initially built in the 6th-7th centuries, Anchiskhati basilica an oldest Orthodox church in the city built in the early sixth century, the Art museum including the treasury of golden fund.

Day 3   Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Kutaisi

Drive to Mtskheta - old capital of Kartli-Iberia kingdom known as a political and cultural center from 3rd century BC. Drive up to Jvari monastery dated 6th  century distinguished with harmonious proportions and representing the high achievements of early Georgian Medieval architecture. Visit to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral - 11th  century architectural monument. Drive to Kutaisi - former capital of western Georgia. Pass Likhi range that divides eastern and western parts of Georgia. Excursion to Bagrati Cathedral - 11th-century church regarded as a masterpiece in the history of medieval Georgian architecture Visit historic and architectural complex Gelati - also known as Gelati academy founded by King David IV Aghmashenebeli (the Builder) and very interesting for its murals and mosaic dated from 12th up to 17th centuries. Night in Kutaisi at Bagrati 1003 hotel (or available alternative)

Day 4    Kutaisi - Vardzia - Bakuriani

En-route visit to Khertvisi fortress of 10th century and Khertvisi town which was the center of Meskheti region in the 10th-11th centuries; continue to cave town Vardzia - 13th storey city cut out of  solid rock. Accommodation in Bakuriani at Didveli hotel.

Day 5    Bakuriani - Borjomi - Gori - Gudauri

Balneological resort of Borjomi: tasting of Borjomi mineral spring water and stroll in the park. Borjomi is famous throughout the former Soviet Union for its salty-sour, love-it-or-hate-it carbonated mineral water. Thisi is an attractive resort town clinging to the hills either side of the Mtkvari River, 850m above sea level. Continue to Kazbegi - at the height of 2379 m the road is crossing the main Caucasus road that is geographical border of Europe and Asia. On the way stop in Gori - famous for being a birthplace of Joseph Stalin. Visit to Stalin's museum and house of birth. Proceed to Uplistsikhe cave town containing various structures dating from the Early Iron Age to the Late Middle Ages. Drive to north along the Georgian Military Highway to Mtiuleti and Khevi provinces. This ancient road is still important as a main link connecting all south Caucasus countries with Russia. Visit to Ananuri architectural complex dated 16th-17th centuries and accommodation in Gudauri at Marco Polo hotel.

Day 6  Gudauri - Kazbegi - Tbilisi

Continue trip via beautiful Cross Pass arrive in Kazbegi, hike up to Gergeti Trinity Church dated 14th century located at 2180 m from where you can enjoy amazing view of Mt. Kazbegi (alternatively take 4x4 cars at additional charge for off road car $20 per person). Visit Sno fortress and Dariali Valley. Drive to Tbilisi. Accommodation at Vere Palace hotel.

Day 7   Tbilisi - Telavi - Sighnaghi

Drive to Kakheti region - the land of wine and vine-growing: drive to Tsinandali estate, excursion in museum with the beautiful garden and its historic winery belonged to the famous Georgian poet Alexander Chavchavadze. Explore the area - garden, museum and wine cellar where oldest bottle of winery dates back to 1814. Continue to Telavi, visit to Alaverdi cathedral of 11th century founded by the Assyrian monk Joseph Alaverdeli, Shuamta monastery and ancient Academy which is located at the Ikalto monastery  (VI c) built during king David the Builder in the early 12th century. Arrive and check in at Solomon 1805 hotel in Sighnaghi - royal town surrounded by the defiance wall with 23 towers built by the king Erekle II in 18th century. The town had many gates through which Georgia was connected to Europe and Asia by various trade routes. Overnight in hotel.

Day 8   Sighnaghi - Lagodekhi

Check out of the hotel and have a walk in fortified city of Sighnaghi, visit Bodbe Nunnery of 9th century, arrive to Geogia - Azerbaijan border between Balakan and Lagodekhi, cross Azerbaijan border and proceed with Azeri part of your tour.
