I completely agree with elensta. I visited Kumtepa Market last summer, and while it’s a lively and colorful place, it’s not drastically different from other markets in Uzbekistan. That said, if you’re a first-time visitor to the region, it’s still a fun experience. You’ll find everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to textiles and household items. Just keep in mind that it’s more of a local shopping hub than a tourist attraction.

I was at Kumtepa Market last spring, and while it’s true that it’s not as “traditional” as it might have been in the past, I still found it fascinating. Yes, it’s a typical market in many ways, but there’s something special about the energy and the mix of people. I did spot a few older locals wearing traditional clothing, but it’s not as common as it once was. If you’re in Margilan or the Fergana Valley, I’d say it’s worth a quick visit—just don’t set your expectations too high.

I visited Kumtepa Market in 2023, and while it’s certainly a large and bustling market, I wouldn’t say it’s particularly unique compared to other markets in the region. It’s a great place to soak in the local atmosphere, browse through stalls, and maybe pick up some fresh produce or handmade goods. However, if you’re expecting something extraordinary or a deep cultural immersion, you might be a bit disappointed. It’s worth a visit if you’re already in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

I’ve heard so much about the vibrant Kumtepa Market, which takes place every Thursday and Sunday. Apparently, it’s a place where you can still see locals dressed in traditional clothing, and it’s supposed to be a cultural experience. But I’ve also come across recent posts saying it’s just like any other market now. Has anyone visited recently? Is it still worth the trip, or has it lost its unique charm?
