'Surakhany' Tanker Museum in Baku — Worth Visiting!

Today I visited the tanker museum Surakhany Tanker Museum. I’m thrilled, and they have landscaped the territory beautifully. The entrance for tourists is 10 manats. It’s a very cool place, and the scale of the tanker itself is impressive when you look at it from the shore. It’s interesting both for adults and children, very interactive. We took a guided tour, and there are also audio guides.

It’s located faaaar beyond Deniz Mall. We went there by bus. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday. The tour lasts 90 minutes. There is also a “mini film” about Azerbaijan.

Overall, it is definitely worth visiting. Nearby there is also the Museum of Stone Chronicle, where petroglyphs are also displayed — so you might not even need to go to Gobustan National Park.

The surroundings are very atmospheric — the building of a former power station, a steam locomotive, and nearby the Baku Aquatics Palace, next to which is the world’s first oil well. Not far away you can also see working oil pumpjacks with signs showing the well’s production rate and its depth. And the Bibi-Heybat Mosque is already within easy reach (by bus, though).
