Train 055 Khiva–Tashkent: What to Expect

Travelers, good afternoon! Maybe someone has taken train 055 from Khiva to Tashkent. Is it really that awful?) We only managed to get tickets for it, from Bukhara to Tashkent, and now I tried to find at least some info about the train, but basically nothing positive. We decided to buy masks just in case. We have someone with asthma, we booked SV, and there’s no information about this carriage at all. Maybe someone can enlighten us. Thank you in advance.

Getting to Amirsoy on Your Own

From Tashkent you can get from the South/North railway station to Khojikent or Chinorkent (express). If you go to Khojikent, like we did — the fare is 9,500 soum. From there it’s about a 15-minute walk to the Chinorkent cable car, then further along the road. By the Chirchik River near the railway it’s very picturesque, two guys crossed a scary bridge 🫣

In places where there are gaps in the fences, you can catch маршрутки to Amirsoy — 324/325, they run in a loop. You can also get off at the Charvak reservoir. The fare is 10,000, but they don’t run often, there aren’t many of them, they go almost empty, it’s actually kind of sad... Of course, everywhere people immediately start offering “need a taxi?”

We were at the Chinorkent cable car last year — the one you can walk to from the railway — it’s not very high, but there are beautiful views there too, plus a glass observation deck and a mini zoo, and it’s cheaper than Amirsoy.

On the way back from Amirsoy we didn’t manage to catch a маршрутка (you have to flag them down by the road), an old man stopped and for 50,000 drove us to Gazalkent, from there we got on a passing electric train to Tashkent.

You can also get to Chinorkent from Tashkent and back by bus 1226 from Mashinosozlar metro, if that’s more convenient for you.

Getting from Bukhara to Samarkand by Bus

Could you please tell me roughly how much it would cost to get from Bukhara to Samarkand by taxi? Approximately.
Originally I was planning to fly out of Bukhara, but after reading reviews about Bukhara airport, now I don’t want to depart from there. I’ll need to get from Bukhara to Samarkand. There are no train tickets left.

Hi, please tell me what’s going on with the Chernyaevka customs checkpoint — has it opened? Or when will it open? We’re traveling on January 30 from Shymkent, so where should we go instead? Via Kaplanbek — does that mean changing buses at the Saryagash bus station? Or is there some other route?

Afrosiyob vs Sharq train?

Can someone tell me if anyone has traveled to Bukhara on the Sharq train? Is it decent or like the old Russian electric trains? As I can't get hold of tickets to Afrisyob I was thinking of buying a tickets to Sharq train. Couple of extra hours in journey is not a big deal for me as long as conditions are fine.

On 27 april we plan to move from Samarcanda to Taskent with fast train. Can you help us with purchasing tickets? We tried to buy directly from eticket.railway.uz but it seems it does not accept foreign credits cards, just uzb cards. Isnt'it?
