Day 1

Arrival to Almaty. Transfer to the Kazzhol Hotel. Short rest. Almaty (i.e. "father of apples" or "father of apple trees") is the former capital of Kazakhstan and the nation's largest city, with a population of 1,5 mln.  Despite losing its status as the capital to Astana in 1997, Almaty remains the major commercial and cultural centre of Kazakhstan. The city is located in the mountainous area of southern Kazakhstan, near the border with Kyrgyzstan.

Second half of the day will be dedicated to Alamty's landmarks sightseeing: visit Panfilov park, the remarkable Cathedral of the Holy Ascension (built in 1907 by architect Andrei Zenkov during a period in which the main building material of the earthquake-wary city was wood. The cathedral reaches a height of more than 53m, making it one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world), Museum of national musical instruments, National museum, Medeo gorge, Republic square. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast. Transfer: Almaty - Kegen village - Caryzhaz village - Tekes river (340 km, 5 hours). Base camp at Tekes river. Preparation for trekking. Overnight in tents.

Day 3

Breakfast. Start trekking in Central Tien-Shan. Hiking: Tekes river - Shubartal place (8 km, 5 hours) (H-2670). The way lies along wide Tekes gorge. Overnight in tents.

Day 4

Breakfast. Hiking: Shubartal place - Karakol small lake (9 km, 6 hours) (H-3231). Walking at lake environs. Back to camp at Karakol small lake. Overnight in the tents.

Day 5

Breakfast. Hiking: Karakol small lake - Kubergenty Pass (H-3570) - Dzhaak river (10 km, 6 hours) (H-3440). Ascent to Kubergenty, descent to narrow valley of Kubergenty river (this river flows into Kokzhar river) and then along Kokzhar river (ascent). Overnight in tents.

Day 6

Breakfast. Hiking: Dzhaak river - Dzhaak Pass (H-3529) - Tuyukashu river (8 km, 5 hours) (H-2870). Ascent to Dzhaak Pass and descent to valley of Ulken-Kokpak river. Overnight in tents.

Day 7

Breakfast. Hiking: Tuyukashu river - head Igliksa river (7 km, 5 hours) (H-2930). The way lies along valley of Ulken-Kokpak river to right confluent of Igliksa river. Then the way lies along Igliks river to Karakolsky Pass. Overnight in tents.

Day 8

Breakfast. Hiking: Igliksa river - Karakolsky Pass (H-3452) - Karakol lake (6 km, 4 hours). Overnight in tents.

Day 9

Breakfast. Free day. At request - radial walking to Akkol-Dekol lake (3 km up to from Karakol lake). Overnight in tents.

Day 10

Breakfast. Hiking: Karakol lake - Akkol lake (6 km, 5 hours) (H-3069). Overnight in tents.

Day 11

Breakfast. Hiking: Akkol lake - North Ashutor Pass (H-3760) - left confluent of Ashutor river (8 km, 6 hours) (H-3200). Overnight in tents.

Day 12

Hiking Ashutor river - Bayankol river (6 km, 4 hours) (H-2500). Overnight in tents.

Day 13

Breakfast. Hiking: Bayankol river - Bayankol frontier post (9 km, 5 hours) (H- 2300). Overnight in tents.

Day 14

Breakfast. Transfer: Bayankol gorge - Almaty (400 km, 6 hours). On the way - excursion to Charyn Canyon. Accommodation in the hotel. Overnight at the hotel

Day 15

Transfer to airport. Departure from Almaty
