Day 1 Almaty

Arrival to Almaty. Transfer to the Kazzhol Hotel. Short rest. Almaty (i.e. "father of apples" or "father of apple trees") is the former capital of Kazakhstan and the nation's largest city, with a population of 1,5 mln. Despite losing its status as the capital to Astana in 1997, Almaty remains the major commercial and cultural centre of Kazakhstan. The city is located in the mountainous area of southern Kazakhstan, near the border with Kyrgyzstan.

Second half of the day will be dedicated to Alamty's landmarks sightseeing: visit Panfilov park, the remarkable Cathedral of the Holy Ascension (built in 1907 by architect Andrei Zenkov during a period in which the main building material of the earthquake-wary city was wood. The cathedral reaches a height of more than 53m, making it one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world), Museum of national musical instruments, National museum, Medeo gorge, Republic square. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast. Transfer: Almaty - Issyk village - Turgen village - Turgen gorge - Batan forestry - Assy plateau - Turgen observatory (100 km). Our way lies along small villages to Turgen gorge. After ecological post and trout farm - to Batan forestry. From forestry asphalt road goes along beautiful gorge and clean Turgen river to Assy plateau and further to mountain astrophysical observatory. Horses will wait us there. The road goes out from gorge to Dzhailiao (open place in the mountains - pasture for horses, sheeps and cows). On the way we will meet yurtas of shepherds, their tents, horses and sheeps. Overnight in the tents.

Day 3

Breakfast. Horseriding start. Horseriding: astrophysical observatory - Amanzhol tract (H-3380) (10 km). After breakfast our way lies along old motor road and futher along cattle path along Kyzylbulak river to its upper course. We pass river and go to its left inflow. Camping of Amanzhol pass. Overnight in the tents.

Day 4

Breakfast. Horseriding: Amanzhol tract - Amanzhol pass (H-3515) - Akkia pass (H-2948) - Chilik river - mouth of Karakie river (H-2043) (14 km). Ascent to pass on path is without difficulties. From pass we can see panorama of Kungey Alatau range and valley of Chilik river. From pass path goes along Amanzhol river to mouth Karakie river. Overnight in the tents.

Day 5

Breakfast. Horseriding: mouth of Karakie river - Chilik river - upper course of Karasai river (H-2202) (13 km). From mouth of Karakie river ascend along left bank of Chilik river, cross river on old suspension bridge to right bank of the river. Further go to Karasai river, along its right bank to its upper course. Overnight in the tents.

Day 6

Breakfast. Horseriding: upper course of Karasai river - Mynzhylki plateau (H-2780) - Karashi river (H-2300) - Uryukty plateau (H-2720) - Bolshie Uryukty river (H-2279) (16 km). After breakfast our way lies from upper course of Karasai river to Mynzhylki plateau along right bank of Karasai river. Mynjylki plateau is a woodless high place which is called "Djailiau". We will see yurtas of the shepherds and flocks of sheep and horses, which graze here because of green and rich grass. Then we descend to Karakshi river valley. After lunch we ascend to the next plateau Urykty. There is a good panorama of Northern Tien-Shan mountain massif with its highest point - peak Talgar (Н - 5017 m). After that we descend to Chon-Urykty river valley. Overnight in the tents.

Day 7

Breakfast. Radial horseriding to Chon-Uryukty lake (H- 3640 m) (18 km). Horseriding: After breakfast we will do a radial walk out to Chong-Urykty lake. Our path goes along the river, some times we ford river. Very soon the forests disappear and the path rises to moraine. We go among the alpine meadows with beautiful flowers. Soon we reach Chong-Urykty lake, situated in the stony hollow with a number of springs flowing into the lake. Back to camp on the bank of Bolshie Uryukty river. Overnight in the tents.

8 Day

Breakfast. Horseriding: Bolshie Uryukty river - Malye Uryukty river (H-2007) - Sarykerege trackt (H-1788) - mouth of Kutyrgan river (H-1761) (15 km). After breakfast our way lies along the right bank of picturesque Chilik river. We cross Malye Uryukty river and set up camp near mouth of Kutyrgan river. Overnight in the tents.

Day 9

Breakfast. The last stretch of horse riding part of this tour. Horseriding: mouth of Kutyrgan river - Bota Moynok pass - Taldy river (H-1635) - Kurmenty village (20 km). Our way lies through the forest along right bank of Chilik river to Kurmenty village. Overnight in the tents.

Day 10

Breakfast. Transfer: Kurmenty village - Saty village (H-1429) - Zhalanash village - Chilik village - Almaty (300 km). On the way visit to Charyn canyon. Arrival in Almaty, accommodation at the hotel "Kazzhol". Overnight in the hotel.

Day 11

Transfer to airport. Departure from Almaty
