Transport in Kokshetau

The train and bus stations are at the end of Abay, 2km east of the centre. Shared taxis to Petropavlovsk (two hours), and minibuses/shared taxis to Astana (3,5 hours) wait in front of the train station. At least three daily trains go to Astana (five to six hours) and Petropavlovsk (four hours). Buses dawdle at least 12 times daily to both places. Bus 1 runs between the stations and the town centre. Buses or marshrutkas run several times daily from Kokshetau bus station to Imantau (two hours), Sandyktau (two hours), Zerenda (one hour) and to Lobanovo, from which you can have a taxi ride to Ayyrtau (total two hours).
