Transport in Semey (Semepalatinsk)

From the airport, 5km south of the centre, there are daily flights to Almaty, four a week to Astana and three to Ust-Kamenogorsk. 

From the main bus station (Valikhanova 167), four daily buses run to Ust-Kamenogorsk (four hours), five to Pavlodar (six hours), three to Astana (14 hours) and one to Almaty (20 hours). There’s a bus every two days to Novosibirsk (12 hours). Shared taxis to Ust-Kamenogorsk gather here too. Daily buses to Barnaul, Tomsk and Omsk, and a couple a week to Urumqi (China), go from the Mezhdunarodny Avtovokzal (International Bus Station; Karzhaubayuly 249). Getting Around - Buses 3, 11 and 13 run from the train station to the centre along pr Shakarima. Bus 33 runs from the train station to the main bazaar (near the main bus station) then along Kabanbay Batyra and Internatsionalnaya to ploshchad Abay. Buses 35 and 41 also run between ploshchad Abay and the bazaar. 

The train station (Privokzalnaya 1) has two or more daily departures to Almaty (19 to 22 hours), one daily to Barnaul, Novosibirsk and Pavlodar, and one every two days to Astana.
