A new high speed train will be launched in 2014 between Tashkent and Almaty

A new high speed train will connect Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan next year when a new train start operating between Almaty - Tashkent.
According to the press release of Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan the new link will allow to meet a growing demand for passenger transport between two countries, it will also reduce the travel time by 1.5-2 times on average.

Currently there are already operating high-speed trains between Almaty - Atyrau, Astana - Atyrau and Atyrau - Semey. Next year, in addition to Almaty - Tashkent route, they plan to launch four more high-speed rail routes: Astana - Kyzylorda, Almaty - Aktobe, Almaty - Zashita, Astana - Zashita.

According to the Transport and Communications Ministry of Kazakhstan, within 9 months of 2013 the total number of rail passengers reached 19.9 million. They believe that the new high-speed route between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will significantly increase the number of passengers.
