Turkmenistan’s internet restrictions are pretty strict. Even with a local SIM, certain apps and websites may still be blocked unless you use a VPN (which could also be restricted). Offline tools are a lifesaver—download maps, travel guides, and any other resources in advance. If you’re staying in major cities, hotel WiFi should be enough to check emails or message loved ones back home.

I had a similar experience with my eSIM in Turkmenistan. It showed that I had internet, but I couldn’t actually connect to anything. When I asked my guide, they mentioned that the government blocks most connections unless you go through specific channels and pay extra. It was frustrating, but I just made do with offline maps and messaging whenever I had WiFi access.

Hey folks, I used an Airalo eSIM during my travels in Central Asia—specifically Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It worked great in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, but unfortunately, it didn’t work at all in Turkmenistan. My guide there explained that I’d need to purchase a separate local SIM or eSIM once I arrived because the coverage is restricted. I decided against it and just relied on hotel WiFi for the duration of my stay. A bit inconvenient, but something to keep in mind if you’re planning to visit.

Hi everyone! I recently got an Airalo Global eSIM, and I have to say, it’s been amazing so far. I used it in Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, and it worked seamlessly—no setup needed, which is perfect for someone like me who’s not very tech-savvy. Hey everyone! We're gearing up for a trip through the five Stans this spring, and I noticed that all these countries have Airalo coverage. Has anyone here used Airalo during their travels in the region? If so, would you recommend going with a Local eSIM for each individual country or opting for the Global eSIM that works across 120+ countries? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any tips you might have. Thanks in advance!
