Public Holidays
Tajikistan's public holidays are a mixed blessing. Whilst they'll be the bane of your existence if you need to cross the border, extend a visa or go to the bank, they are also an opportunity to join family feasts, see buz kashi and, if you're in Dushanbe for Independence Day, soak up the pomp and circumstance. Take account of these in your itineraries; sometimes government offices are closed even the day after.
