We arrived yesterday from Samarkand to Bukhara on a new comfortable bus. We departed from the New Samarkand Bus Station (Chupon Ota Street 13, on Yandex Maps). We bought the ticket right there at the ticket office on the spot — if you get a good cashier, they might sell it for 80,000 soum per person (≈ $7), as if for half the route, but there was a very strange system. In general though, the ticket costs 195,000 soum (≈ $17), since they charge for the full Tashkent–Bukhara route. We got there in 4.5 hours, the driver drove very carefully.

The bus runs every hour, but tickets may not be available — we waited our turn for 2 hours (there’s a place to sit, even to eat something tasty nearby).

It’s better to go by bus than by taxi — more spacious seats, smoother driving, potholes are less noticeable on the roads, and the drivers are more professional.

Taxi drivers often, before even reaching Bukhara, for example in Navoi, hand you over to another (or several) taxi drivers in old clunkers.

Well, if you check Yandextaxi the rate would be between 600,000 - 800,000 soum, but as they said the taxi drivers will not accept the ride and will cancel it as they will have to return empty on the way back in most cases. So, yes, the bus ride seems a better and safer option.

Could you please tell me roughly how much it would cost to get from Bukhara to Samarkand by taxi? Approximately.
Originally I was planning to fly out of Bukhara, but after reading reviews about Bukhara airport, now I don’t want to depart from there. I’ll need to get from Bukhara to Samarkand. There are no train tickets left.
