Geology Museum

Geology may not be the most fashionable of subjects, but we wouldn't be here without it. This unsophisticated museum explains the formation of the earth and our place in the solar system, and has a few tatty dinosaur displays. More importantly, however, it also has a large collection of precious stones and minerals from central Asia, and a set of the excellent Soviet geological survey maps produced to show the extent of the USSR's natural resources. It's popular with school groups during the week.
Museum is located in the center of the city, close to the Central Department Store. You’ll also see a huge paleontology exhibition, diatoms of all kind and size, and many others.
