Ural Tansykbaev Museum

Central to this house museum is the easel of the USSR's Peoples Artist Ural Tansykbaev, with his final, unfinished work still stretched across it. The museum includes his studio, living quarters and small garden, as well as a purpose-built gallery displaying the work of contemporary Uzbek artists. Tansykbaev's own paintings, dating from the 1920s until his death in 1974, are also on view; his moody blue landscapes, including a depiction of men hauling in their nets on the shore of the then fish-filled Aral Sea, are also on show.
