Uspensky Sobor

The Assumption Cathedral (Uspensky Sobor) is one of four Russian Orthodox churches in Tashkent. Best visited on a Sunday morning when a service is in full flow, this small but attractive building, replete with solemn icons, onion domes and rather a lot of gilt, was heavily restored in 1996 for the visit of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II.
