Beyond the monastery walls, several more rock-cut structures are scattered along the slope. At first glance, they may appear abandoned, but the monks quietly maintain them. A narrow path winding into the mountains leads to one such chapel—dedicated to Gregory the Illuminator, the first Patriarch of Armenia, and dating back to the 12th century.
Part of the chapel is carved directly into the rock. Inside, fragments of inscriptions and stone carvings remain, along with khachkars adorned with detailed patterns. In the eastern section stands a small altar where visitors light candles and offer prayers for blessing.
