Astana Central City Park

Astana’s Central Park, formerly known as “Astana Park,” stands as a symbol of pride for the capital. Situated in the very heart of Kazakhstan’s capital, the park spans an impressive 104 hectares and offers a wide range of entertainment for families and visitors of all ages.

Astana Park is the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Ishim (Yesil) River, breathe in the fresh air, and have fun with loved ones. Over its long history, the park has experienced highs and lows, phases of decline, and periods of growth and revitalization. Today, it is a well-maintained and beautiful space, with a rich array of flowers, trees, and shrubs. Visitors will find meticulously designed flower beds, bridges, benches, fountains, sculptures, statues, and other historical monuments that enhance the park’s charm. One of the park’s most picturesque features is its artificial pond, where white swans and wild ducks swim, often delighting children and adults alike who enjoy feeding them. Additionally, the park houses the “Atameken” Ethno-Memorial Complex and the Ailand Family Recreation Center, adding to its diverse attractions.

Every Sunday, Central Park comes alive with sporting activities along the main alley. Starting at 10:00 a.m., a group workout session kicks off the day, followed by various activities such as martial arts, CrossFit, and dance classes. These sessions are free and take place throughout the summer, allowing visitors to stay active in a fun, inclusive environment. For those who prefer cycling or running, the park offers dedicated bike paths and running tracks, which double as ski trails during the winter. In the colder months, the park transforms into a winter wonderland where visitors can skate on the ice rinks. Skates can either be brought from home or rented on-site. Additionally, rental services provide bikes, scooters, rollerblades, and small cars for children, making the park a hub for outdoor fun year-round.

Near the park, along the Esil River embankment, is the Summer Amphitheater, an open-air concert venue that hosts a variety of events, from concerts to championships, competitions, and other lively gatherings. The park administration regularly organizes show programs with contests, prizes, and cheerful entertainment to ensure a vibrant atmosphere for all visitors.

Astana’s Central Park is also a central hub for celebrations. The park offers everything necessary for a pleasant visit, including several cafés and food stalls, restrooms, benches, and free children’s playgrounds, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for families.

Adjacent to the park, along the Esil River, lies the city’s beach, a favorite spot for locals to sunbathe and swim during the warmer months. The beach is well-equipped with sun shelters, a large playground for children, a volleyball net, benches, changing rooms, and trash bins. Several stands offer ice cream and cold beverages, and lifeguards are on duty to ensure safety. The beach is open throughout the summer, inviting everyone to cool off and relax by the water.
