Just over three decades ago, on the eastern hills of Tajikistan’s capital, a remarkable memorial complex was established—Victory Park. Designed by renowned architects and sculptors from Dushanbegiproigor, this park spans an impressive 35.5 hectares, standing as a testament to both beauty and history.
The park’s grandeur is evident even from a distance. As visitors approach, they are greeted by rows of towering cypress trees that line the road from Druzhba Narodov Street all the way to the main entrance. The entrance itself leads into a broad avenue, thoughtfully designed with numerous stairways and a cable car system that transports visitors to the top of the hill.
Victory Park was inaugurated in 1975 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Great Victory in World War II. As part of its original design, a memorial plaque was installed in the park, honoring the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The park also features the Avenue of Heroes, home to one of the most cherished landmarks—the sculpture of a Mother. On the main square, known as the Square of Sorrow, the Eternal Flame burns in perpetual remembrance.
