Your adventure begins at 9:00 AM as you depart from the historic city of Samarkand, heading towards the enchanting Sayyod Yurt Camp nestled in the stunning Nuratau Mountains. The journey will take approximately three hours, allowing you to soak in the picturesque landscapes along the way.
Upon arrival at around 12:00 PM, you’ll check into one of the 11 beautifully adorned yurts, each offering a cozy and authentic experience. Depending on the size of the yurt, accommodations range from 2 to 4 beds, ensuring a comfortable stay for all guests. The camp is equipped with essential amenities, including an onsite restaurant serving delicious local cuisine, modern ablution facilities with showers and toilets, and a refreshing outdoor swimming pool. Internet access is also available for those who wish to stay connected.
After settling in and enjoying a hearty lunch, prepare for an invigorating afternoon hike. Over the next three hours, you’ll embark on a 6-kilometer trek through the breathtaking mountains. The trail offers captivating views of the Nuratau Mountains and the distant Lake Aydarkul. As you ascend gradually through the valley, you’ll reach a vantage point that provides panoramic vistas of the surrounding villages and the shimmering lake. The return journey will take you back along a different route, allowing you to experience new scenery. After a fulfilling day, gather around the campfire for a delightful evening under the stars.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, gear up for a full day of exploration as you set out to conquer the mountain plateau. This exciting hike spans approximately 15 kilometers and will take around 7 hours to complete. The journey begins as you trek through the valley, gradually making your way up to the expansive plateau. Here, you’ll be treated to stunning views that encompass the vast Kyzyl-Kum steppe, Lake Aydarkul, and the charming villages nestled on the opposite side of the Nuratau Mountains.
A picnic lunch will be provided during your hike, allowing you to refuel while surrounded by nature’s beauty. As you make your way back to the yurt camp, you have the option to extend your hike and explore the nearby village of Sayyod. The locals here primarily engage in livestock farming and cultivate vineyards and walnut trees, providing a glimpse into their traditional way of life. After returning to the camp, enjoy a delicious dinner and unwind by the swimming pool, reflecting on the day’s adventures.
Following breakfast, you will transfer to the nearby Hayat village, arriving around 10:30 AM. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the breeding enclosure for Severtzov’s wild sheep, as well as explore the ruins of an ancient fortress that tells tales of the region’s rich history.
From Hayat, embark on a full-day hike to Uhum village, covering a distance of 16 kilometers over roughly 6 hours. The first leg of the hike will lead you from Hayat valley to Ulugbek’s homestay in Uhum village, taking about two hours. After enjoying a traditional lunch at the homestay, you’ll continue your trek through Uhum valley. As you hike, you’ll witness local women engaging in traditional bread-making using the tandir oven and performing various household tasks. Feel free to interact with the villagers, many of whom will warmly invite you into their yards to share their daily lives.
In Upper Uhum village, you’ll discover ancient irrigation channels still in use by local farmers, as well as visit a petroglyph site that reveals the area’s ancient settlement history. After a day filled with exploration and cultural immersion, return to Ulugbek’s homestay for a hearty dinner with the family, followed by an overnight stay in the homestay, enriching your experience of local hospitality.
On your final day, enjoy breakfast before departing from Uhum village at 9:00 AM. The journey to Bukhara will take approximately four hours, and you can expect to arrive around 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM. As you travel, take in the changing landscapes and reflect on the unforgettable experiences you’ve had during your adventure through the Nuratau Mountains and the vibrant culture of Uzbekistan.

The camp features restrooms with sinks, showers, and toilets. Another highlight of the camp is the outdoor pool, operational from mid-April to mid-October. Next to the pool, there is a barbecue area.
Meals in the yurt camp are served in a spacious restaurant on the premises, which also has a bar. Breakfast is served buffet-style, while lunch and dinner feature national dishes such as manti, chuchvara, pilaf, dimlama, shurpa, mastava, and more. A wide selection of vegetarian dishes is available upon request. The restaurant is mainly used in spring and late autumn, while in summer, lunches and dinners are served on an outdoor terrace nearby.
The restaurant seats 60 people. There is also a kitchen where we hold masterclasses on preparing national dishes. Every morning, guests can observe the baking of bread in a traditional tandyr.

A few minutes’ walk from the yurts is a restroom and shower block with eight showers and six toilets, equipped with separate male and female facilities. Here, you will find hair dryers, mirrors, and there is always plenty of hot water. Convenient sinks for handwashing are located at the entrance to the block. The facility is heated, ensuring comfort even on cool autumn days.
Our yurt camp, located in the picturesque Nurata Mountains, offers excellent hiking opportunities. We have developed routes of varying difficulty and duration, allowing you to enjoy the stunning views of these unique mountain landscapes. You can hike independently using maps and routes provided at the camp. However, for longer and more challenging routes, we recommend hiring an experienced guide, as there are no signposts in the mountains.
