Route in brief:

Kutaisi – Prometheus Cave – Martvili Canyon – Kutaisi

Uncover the hidden wonders of western Georgia on our one-day Prometheus Cave and Martvili Canyon Tour, a perfect escape into nature’s artistic brilliance. Designed for travelers who seek awe-inspiring beauty, this tour showcases the natural marvels carved by time itself. Begin your journey in the mystical depths of Prometheus Cave, where centuries-old stalactites, stalagmites, and underground rivers create a surreal atmosphere, brought to life by colorful lighting. Then head to Martvili Canyon, a paradise of emerald waters and lush cliffs, where you’ll drift through the canyon on a tranquil boat ride beneath cascading waterfalls. Along the way, enjoy views of charming countryside villages, and if you wish, top off your adventure with a delightful home-cooked Imeretian dinner and local wine. This tour promises relaxation, wonder, and unforgettable moments for lovers of both nature and culture.

Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Kutaisi to begin a day of exploration into some of Georgia’s most mesmerizing natural landmarks. After a short scenic drive through the picturesque countryside, our first destination will be the stunning Prometheus Cave, one of the largest and most captivating caves in the region. You’ll embark on a 45-minute guided walk through six spectacular underground halls, each adorned with striking stalactites and stalagmites, mineral formations, hidden lakes, and even underground waterfalls. Enhanced with artistic lighting, the cave offers a magical, almost otherworldly experience.

Next, we’ll travel toward Martvili Canyon, driving through the lush landscapes and charming villages of Samegrelo, known for their distinctive architecture and warm, colorful gardens. Once at the canyon, prepare for a peaceful and scenic boat ride along the river, gliding between high cliffs and under misty waterfalls. The crystal-clear waters, changing shades of green and blue, offer a picture-perfect setting that makes this one of the most photogenic spots in Georgia.

After the boat ride, we’ll explore the walking paths above the canyon, crossing footbridges and viewing platforms that provide breathtaking vistas of the gorge below. You’ll have time to soak in the atmosphere, snap unforgettable photos, and enjoy the fresh air of this magical corner of Georgia.

We’ll then return to Kutaisi, where our tour concludes. For those interested in extending the experience, we invite you to join a traditional Imeretian dinner in a local family-owned restaurant. Enjoy homemade specialties and regional wine in a warm and authentic setting (advance reservation recommended due to limited seating).

Duration of the tour: 8–9 hours
Optional dinner: Traditional Imeretian cuisine with local wine in a Kutaisi home-restaurant. Reservation required.
