The Mausoleum of Nadzhimetdin Kubra, the founder of the Sufi order «Kubraviya» in Islam and a revered Sufi sheikh, stands as the central monument in the «360» memorial complex. This sacred site draws pilgrims from around the world, who come to pay their respects and seek spiritual guidance.
Legend has it that Khwarezmshah Mohammed II, influenced by a false accusation, executed one of Kubra’s most devoted disciples. In his righteous anger, the holy man cursed Khwarezm. This curse swiftly materialized, as the once-mighty state succumbed to the devastating Mongol invasion. Kubra, along with his 360 disciples, valiantly defended their city in a battle that would become his final act of devotion to Islam. During this heroic struggle, a Mongol warrior beheaded the Sufi master. The cemetery at Kunya-Urgench, now home to the Mausoleums of Nadzhimetdin Kubra, Sultan Ali, and Piryarvali, marks the site of this fateful battle. Nearby lies the grave of young Dzhamildzhan, Kubra’s most beloved pupil.
