Unlike many historical mausoleums adorned with elaborate stucco patterns, intricate Arabic inscriptions, or majolica-decorated walls and portals, the Sultan Ali Mausoleum stands out for its simplicity. This is largely because, despite its age of over five centuries, the mausoleum was never completed. The tumultuous era marked by incessant internecine conflicts among Turkmen khans and the invasion of Khwarezm by the Bukhara ruler Abdullakhan prevented its completion. The mausoleum, originally intended for one of the most influential Turkmen khans of the period, who even governed Urgench during his lifetime, remained unfinished due to these historical disruptions.
