Another prominent feature of New Merv is the fortress of Bairamalikhan-Kala. This fortress was originally designed as a three-walled structure, strategically linked to the western fortifications of Abdullakhan-Kala.
The western wall stretched nearly 750 meters, while the northern and southern walls extended approximately 500 meters each. Today, only a portion of the northern wall and a few remnants of the southern wall remain intact. The exact time of the fortress’s construction remains uncertain, but it is named in honor of Bairamali-khan, the beloved governor who ruled from 1781 to 1784.
