Uzbekistan is bordered by an intricate web of boundaries stretching over 6,221 kilometers. This expansive border skirts five countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan, each with its own unique cultural and historical ties to Uzbekistan.
The country is dotted with 12 official border crossing points, strategically placed to facilitate the movement of people and goods. These crossings are the modern-day portals to the Silk Road, continuing a tradition of connectivity that has defined the region for millennia.
As you plan your visit to Uzbekistan, remember that the journey through its borders is part of the adventure.

It is highly advisable to arrive to the border crossing points of Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan no later than 16:30, although the border works till 18:00, as later arrival decreases your chances to cross them due to time required for border formalities and distance up to another country’s border.
The border crossing point on Turkmenistan side might close for lunch (not a usual case) that will add some hours to reach the neighbouring country.
