The Kosh-Madrasah is a remarkable architectural ensemble in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, consisting of two distinct buildings: the Modari-khan Madrasah and the Abdullah-khan Madrasah. The term «Kosh» translates to «double,» reflecting the pair of structures that stand opposite each other on a narrow street, facing each other with their grand facades.
The Modari-khan Madrasah, constructed in 974 AH (1566-1567 AD), is a modest yet elegant example of madrasah architecture. The date of its construction is inscribed in poetic verses on the majolica tiles above the entrance. The main facade of the Modari-khan Madrasah is adorned with intricate designs, showcasing the artistic craftsmanship of the period.
