For travelers planning a trip to Uzbekistan, the Mausoleum of Sayf ad-Din Boharzi and Buyan Kuli Khan near Bukhara is an interesting historical site that offers a glimpse into the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the region.
Sayf ad-Din al-Bokharzi (1190-1261) was a prominent follower of Nadjmid ad-Din Kubro, the founder of the Sufi order known as «Kubraviya.» Al-Bokharzi was not only a renowned poet but also a respected theologian, earning the esteemed title of «Sheikh of the World» towards the end of his life.
Following his death, a mausoleum-khanaka was constructed over his grave, serving as a sacred place for dervish rituals. This mausoleum, with its grandeur and architectural brilliance, stands as a testament to his influence and legacy.
Opposite the grave of Sayf ad-Din al-Bokharzi lies the burial site of his devoted follower, Buyan Kuli Khan. In honor of his contributions, a mausoleum was later built over his grave as well, adding to the historical significance of the site.
