The Ulugbek Madrasah in Bukhara is a significant historical and architectural monument, founded in 1417. This is confirmed by an inscription on the bronze plate of the door. The name of the master who constructed this monument, Ismail ibn Takhir ibn Makhmud Ispfargoni, is inscribed on the portal tympanum. It is believed that he might have been the grandson of one of the craftsmen captured by Timur in Iran, who left their names on the portal of the Gur-Amir complex in Samarkand.
The Ulugbek Madrasah in Bukhara is the first madrasah built by Ulugbek, a prominent ruler and scholar. Although it is relatively small in size, it boasts impressive architectural forms. The structure features a two-ayvan square courtyard, surrounded by two-storey hudjrs (student cells). The madrasah also includes darskhana (lecture hall) cupola halls and a mosque located at the intersection of the entrance hall.
