Trolleybuses

A unique feature of Khiva’s public transport is its trolleybus line, which holds the distinction of being the only one in Uzbekistan. This line connects Khiva with the nearby city of Urgench, providing a vital link between the two locales. The trolleybus service was inaugurated in 1998 to commemorate Khiva’s 2500th anniversary. The route spans 35.6 kilometers and operates from 6:45 AM to 11:00 PM. Passengers typically wait between 20 to 40 minutes for a trolleybus, offering a dependable option for intercity travel.

Taxis

Taxis are a popular choice among Khiva’s residents and visitors for their convenience and flexibility. Hailing a taxi from the roadside is a common practice, and it’s worth noting that bargaining over the fare is expected. This custom allows for some negotiation, potentially making taxi rides more affordable.
