Aydarkul Lake, nestled in the heart of the Kyzylkum Desert, stands as a remarkable natural wonder, its pristine waters presenting a striking contrast to the arid surroundings. Initially, one might mistake it for a mirage, but its existence is a fascinating reality rooted in a unique geological event. Historically, the Arnasay Hollow was a saline wasteland where excess drainage waters were directed. However, in the summer of 1969, the Syrdarya River’s exceptionally high water levels surpassed the Chardarya Reservoir’s capacity, leading to an overflow that filled the Arnasay Hollow and thus gave birth to Aydarkul Lake. This unexpected event fostered the development of a vibrant ecosystem, teeming with various fish species.
