Junayty is a unique gem of Uzbekistan, where a relatively small area is home to an astonishing array of granite boulders, each the size of a two-story house, resembling monumental figures of animals, fantastical creatures, and surreal monsters reminiscent of Salvador Dalí’s imagination. All of these natural sculptures have been meticulously crafted by nature’s own “artists”—water and wind. As visitors stroll through the valley, they encounter a mesmerizing spectacle at every turn: a cobra with its hood flared, a giant tortoise, a snail, a lizard, a colossal bird poised to take flight, and even a gigantic human skull, among other wonders.
Following a gentle ascent along a small river for about 10 kilometers, one arrives at an immense granite massif, towering over 100 meters high, reminiscent of a Buddhist pagoda—this is the peak of Junayty. Its walls are adorned with deep cavities, as if they have been bored through by giant drill bits, adding to the otherworldly atmosphere of the site.
This extraordinary location is situated in the Nurata district of the Navoi region of Uzbekistan, inviting adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike to explore its surreal landscape and marvel at the artistry of the natural world.
