Sharshara Restaurant

Sharshara Restaurant, Tashkent

In the quest for new culinary experiences, one can stumble upon the capital’s famous Sharshara Restaurant. Its allure lies in its unique location. The restaurant is built around the Kechkuruk River, complete with a bustling waterfall that beckons both tourists and locals alike.

The tables are set in a lush, well-maintained area near the water, sheltered under canopies and close to a stage where, in the evenings, dancers perform to a medley ranging from Irina Kayratovna’s tunes to invigorating national melodies. The waterside spots are perfect for banquets, with tables draped in tablecloths and glasses glistening, yet without a hint of dampness in the air. While reservations cannot be made over the phone, on-site booking is available with a deposit.

The menu is a classic blend of dishes typical of similar establishments: national cuisine interspersed with European salads and steaks grilled to perfection. For celebrations, there’s no need to bring a cake—there’s an array of desserts on display to suit any taste: berry, chocolate, crunchy, and melt-in-your-mouth delights.

Koinot Restaurant at TV Tower

Koinot restaurant in Tashkent TV Tower

The famous Koinot Restaurant with its rotating floor. It’s a frequent stop for foreign guests—and for good reason! Where else but at the TV Tower can one gaze upon the city from a bird’s-eye view? At 94 meters high, there’s an observation deck equipped with binoculars and models of towers from various countries. Visitors ascend two floors higher to find themselves captivated, staying for a cup of coffee.

Entrance to the Tashkent TV Tower is chargeable, but identification is no longer required. For individuals over 16, a weekday ticket costs 35,000 Uzbekistani som. On weekends, the ticket price increases by 5,000 som. Admission is charged by default, even if you’re heading straight to the restaurant, bypassing the observation deck.

The restaurant itself is located on the 8th floor, accessible by elevator. The interior is modern, with a fresh and atmospheric feel. The play of light, table settings, and floor-length curtains enhance the dining experience, despite the staff’s hustle. The tone of the evening is set by a violinist who performs popular pieces in a relaxed style from the stage.

The tables are situated on a rotating floor, akin to planetary rings, completing one circle around the tower’s axis every hour. During this time, guests can observe the city while enjoying their meal. One is recommended visiting in the evening when the windows reveal a romantic Tashkent, aglow with millions of lights.

If you don’t fuss over the service, which isn’t the most polished, your evening will be splendid. In the restaurant’s subdued atmosphere, under the twinkling streetlights, you can spend a relaxed evening with friends, celebrate a birthday with loved ones, or even make a marriage proposal.

Street Food at Chorsu bazaar

An important and atmospheric landmark of Uzbekistan’s capital is the famous Chorsu Market. This place is very picturesque and authentic; tourists are not uncommon here, but the market is primarily for locals. It’s worth visiting to get a true taste of the country. This is where locals stop by for a meal after shopping. The food here is genuinely Uzbek and may not be for everyone.

Though the place might look a bit daunting, with food, dishes, and people in outerwear all close together, not shining with cleanliness. But here, appearances are secondary to taste!

The rows are always full of locals, which is a good sign. The food is truly authentic and very affordable. The aromas of fresh bread, spices, and grilled meat are irresistible. And the people are friendly, often casting an amused glance at the astonished tourists. In short, it’s a colorful place. And despite its untidy appearance, it’s all safe and highly recommended.
