Flag of Azerbaijan

The national flag of Azerbaijan was officially adopted on February 5, 1991, symbolizing the country’s independence and identity. This vibrant flag features a striking tricolor design, with horizontal bands of blue, green, and red. At the center of the flag, positioned on the red band, is a white crescent and an eight-pointed star, both of which add a distinctive touch to its overall appearance.

The colors of the flag hold significant meaning as outlined in the Constitution of Azerbaijan. The blue represents the traditional color of the Turkic peoples, reflecting their heritage and cultural identity. The red signifies progress and modernization, embodying the aspirations of the Azerbaijani nation. Meanwhile, the green color is a symbol of Islam, representing the country’s deep-rooted religious traditions.

The white crescent on the flag signifies Azerbaijan’s commitment to Islam, while the eight-pointed star serves as a representation of the eight branches of the Turkic peoples. Together, these elements create a powerful emblem of national pride and unity, encapsulating the rich history and diverse culture of Azerbaijan.
