Tufandag mountain ski resort

Tufandag is the second most popular and capacity-rich ski resort in Azerbaijan, having opened its doors in 2014 near the charming city of Gabala. This stunning resort features ski slopes that range from 956 to 1,920 meters in elevation, serviced by four gondola and chair lifts that stretch nearly 6 kilometers in total. Ski enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of 10 trails catering to all skill levels, including 2 green, 2 blue, 3 red, and 3 black runs. The most challenging black slopes boast a steep gradient exceeding 40°, while the longest run, the blue B2, spans an impressive 3,150 meters.

After an exhilarating day on the slopes, Tufandag offers a wealth of other winter activities to keep the fun going. Visitors can rent inflatable tubes, traditional sleds, or snowmobiles, and even take a thrilling ride on a toboggan down the designated track. On clear days, take the gondola up to the 1,920-meter mark, where a well-equipped viewing platform awaits. Here, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the snow-capped Yatmis Gozal peak and the majestic ridges of the Greater Caucasus. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, the mountain swings that soar above the gorge provide an unforgettable experience.

For a more relaxed retreat, indulge in the spa facilities available at two of the resort’s hotels: the Qafqaz Riverside Hotel and the Qafqaz Tufandag Mountain Resort Hotel. These wellness centers offer indoor pools with hydromassage, jacuzzis, Turkish baths, Finnish saunas, and a variety of spa treatments, including body wraps, massages, traditional bathing rituals, scrubs, reflexology, and aromatic peels.

The resort is also home to eight cafes and restaurants, serving a delightful array of Caucasian and international cuisine. For stunning views of the majestic mountains, visit the Panorama restaurant, which specializes in Mediterranean dishes and hosts open buffet events. To savor traditional Azerbaijani cuisine in a cozy national atmosphere, head to Qabala Cafe, conveniently located near the lift at an elevation of 1,600 meters. At an even higher altitude of 1,920 meters, don’t miss the chance to dine at Tufandag’s highest restaurant, Chalet Steak & Wine House, where exquisite steaks and fine wines await.

The ski season at Tufandag typically runs from early December to the end of March, although the exact start and end dates depend on snowfall and temperature conditions.
