This is the Koksu Gorge on the Koksu River, and to reach it you have to walk 18 km along a mountain trail from Burchmulla upstream... The hike isn’t easy, it requires an average level of physical fitness, but the views of the area are simply incredible: wild nature, views of overhanging mountains, the sound of a fast-flowing, murmuring river — all of this will leave unforgettable impressions.
It’s not a one-day hike (at least 1 overnight stay is needed) — it’s also a border and eco zone, and at the entrance your passport details will be checked and recorded at the post.
And there’s no mobile signal there anymore. The exact coordinates of the place are easy to find on Google Maps — just type “Koksu Gorge.” (Коксуйская Щель)
here are some videos we took last year, one of them is timelapse of the trek
Could you please tell me how to get there, and is it possible to go through the border checkpoint, and how much the entrance costs?
It’s possible, but difficult — 16 km along mountain trails by the river, it’s better to go with an overnight stay and with someone who knows the area. You need a passport and to pay an environmental fee of 20–25 thousand soum. No special permission is needed. Borderguards upon entry to the park will just take note of your passport and take an environmental fee.Posted by: @marraderhow to get there
