Good afternoon! We’re planning a trip to Samarkand in April. Are there any places not far from the city where it’s possible to do one-day mountain trekking? I’ve read about the Aghalýk Mountain Range (the name Okhalik is also used) — is it the same place? Does anyone know whether it’s possible to get there independently? Or please recommend people who have had such an experience. We’d really like to combine city sightseeing with nature.
Thank you! So it’s possible to hike on your own, there are trails? And there’s no public transport?
There is one minibus that goes there, but it doesn’t go all the way — it stops about three kilometers short. A taxi isn’t expensive. From there you’ll have to walk back to the minibus — usually there’s no mobile connection there. Or you can arrange with the taxi driver who takes you there for him to come back and pick you up at a set time.
