Hi everyone,
Could someone clarify which documents are required for foreign citizens to visit Chatkal Nature Reserve? And how can we obtain them?

No special permits are needed for either locals or foreign visitors! At the reserve entrance, you just need to show your passport and pay 20,000 UZS per person.

From the entry point to Urungach Lake, it's about a 1.5-hour drive on a dirt road. A regular car can make it, but be cautious—some spots are tricky, and scraping the bottom of a rental car on the rocks is not a pleasant experience.

Once you reach Urungach, local drivers offer rides to the lower lake in Niva or UAZ vehicles for reasonable rates. Highly recommended unless you feel like walking that distance. From the lower lake, it’s a 30-45 minute hike to the upper lake. We managed it in 30 minutes with a brisk pace, but it can vary.

Try to arrive before sunset. Otherwise, the sun will be directly in your camera’s line of sight, and your photos won’t turn out as spectacular as you’d hope.
