On my recent trip to Almaty, I decided to use the Almaty Pass. I got the 72-hour version for 15,000 KZT. Here’s what you need to know: at most attractions, no one has even heard of it. It often leads to calls to supervisors, clarifications, and general confusion.

Here’s how it works at specific locations:

  • Medeu–Shymbulak Cable Car: Go straight to the information center. They will scan your QR code and issue a ticket.
  • Kok-Tobe: At the ticket office, after numerous calls and discussions, they should eventually issue you tickets for the cable car and the Ferris wheel. Important: the Fast Coaster is apparently undergoing extended renovations, but this isn’t mentioned on their website.
  • City Bus Tour: Check the Almaty Pass website for their tour schedule. You’ll need to message them on WhatsApp to reserve a spot.
  • Mega Ferris Wheel and Botanical Garden: These locations are more straightforward and hassle-free.

As a resident of Almaty, this is the first time I’m hearing about the Almaty Pass!
