Has anyone been to the Fann Mountains at the end of May? Is it possible to do short hikes there up to 3000 m? I’ve read that the season only starts in June, but we’ll be there in late May and would like to spend a few days in the mountains.
At the beginning of May two years ago, from the Vertical Camp side we easily reached the lakes and the Alaudin Pass. From the Artuch Camp side — up to Bibidjanat, above that there was already a lot of snow. Both alpine camps were closed. In 2024, Artuch only opened at the beginning of June, and Vertical didn’t open at all. I think by the end of May the weather should already be fine, and there are places to pitch a tent — if the camps don’t open, there are spots nearby along the streams.

Was it very cold at night?
My down sleeping bag is rated to -20°C, so it was comfortable.
